Goldilocks and The Three Bears
Little Goldilocks was a pretty girl who stayed with her parents in a small wooden house in a faraway forest. Goldilocks was not just pretty but was very mischievous and was always up to something or the other. She never kept her hands still and was always meddling away with a lot of things be it hers or the others.
One shiny summer day Goldilocks was playing with the small kitten at home while the kitten bit her hand. Angry with it Goldilocks left it behind and walked away. The sun was shining high and she enjoyed her walk through the forest. She walked and walked until she felt tired and wanted to rest. Now Goldilocks had come across a small and little hut which she saw from a distance and loved. She thought of going there to find out who lived there.
Slowly she entered the house calling out, “Hello, anybody in there? Hello!!"
But she heard no voices. She slowly slopped into the big living room. Little she knew that three bears lived in that house. One was the papa bear, the second, the mama bear and the third was the baby bear. The papa bear was huge, the mama bear was just middle-sized and the baby bear was cute and small.
Goldilocks looked around everywhere in the living room and then moved to the bedroom and then into the kitchen but could find no one. She did not know that the three bears had been for a morning walk. She saw that on the table were three bowls of soup kept ready by the mama bear for the lunch.
One was a big bowl kept for papa bear. The second was a middle-sized bowl for the mama bear and the third was a tiny bowl kept for the baby bear. Goldilocks was now very hungry after such a long walk. So she decided to have some soup and then tell the owners of the house when they return that she had been very hungry. So she took some soup from the big bowl. It lasted badly. It was too hot and spicy and she did not like it. She then decided to taste some from mama’s bowl. It was too salty and she did not like that either. She was then determined to taste the baby bowl’s soup and find out what would taste. It tasted delicious! Goldilocks drank all the soup without leaving one little bit for the baby bear.
She then walked into the middle of the living room where she saw three chairs. One was a big chair that of papa bear. The second was a middle-sized chair for the mama bear and the third was a tiny chair kept for the baby bear. Goldilocks was too tired of walking and decided to sit down and rest for a while. She took a seat on papa bear’s chair and then immediately got up because it was too hard. She then took a seat on the mama bear’s chair. It was too soft. She then thought that the tiny chair would be just right for her and took a seat there. It was so comfortable! She sat there for a while and rested. But curiosity kills the cat!
She decided to have a wider look at the bedroom and walked into the bedroom and saw that there were three beds in the bedroom. One was a big bed that of papa bear, the second was a middle-sized bed for the mama bear and the third was a tiny bed kept for the baby bear. She tried sleeping on the big bed and the bed was too big and she did not like it. She tried sleeping on mama’s bed and it was just the way mama's chair had been too soft.
She knew that the tiny bed would suit her. The moment she fell on the bed she fell asleep and was into the dreamland. She was now dreaming that she was in the middle of the sea and was happily going on a boat.
Meanwhile, the three bears returned from their walk and were very hungry and wanted to eat their lunch. As soon as they entered the house the papa bear knew that something was wrong and someone had come home. When they all walked into the living room, they all saw to their horror that the soup bowls had been tasted. But oh! Dear me! How cross the great big bear looked when he saw his spoon had been used and thrown under the table.
“Who has been tasting my soup?” he cried in a great big voice.
“And who has been tasting mine?” cried the middle-sized bear in a lower voice.
“But who has been tasting mine and tasted it all up?” cried the poor little teeny tiny bear in a teeny tiny voice with tears running down his teeny tiny face.
While Goldilocks slept happily on the bed, papa bear noticed that someone had been sitting on his chair and shouted, "who has been sitting on my chair?”
And the middle-sized bear cried, in a lower voice, “who has been sitting on my chair?”
But the teeny tiny bear cried out in a teeny tiny voice of anger, “who has been sitting on my chair and sat the bottom out?” By now papa bear was not just sure that someone had been meddling with everything at home but also was very angry.
He said, “Let me get to know who this intruder is and I will kill him!"
All the three bears then walked into the bedroom and saw that someone had been sleeping in their beds. First, he saw that someone was sleeping on his big bed and shouted, “Who has been lying on my bed?”
And the middle-sized bear cried out in a lower voice, “who has been lying on my bed?”
But the teeny tiny bear cried out in a teeny tiny voice of anger, “who has been lying on my bed and lies there still?”
Goldilocks, in her dreams, thought when the papa bear shouted that there was a thunderstorm and the boat rocked a little here and there. When mama bear shouted she thought that there were winds and the boat was rocking all over. By the time the tiny bear shouted in her dream she had fallen into the water and then woke up with a start to see that there were three angry bears standing up there looking into her. She was shocked and was terrified. She jumped out of the window without speaking a word and ran for her life. She ran and ran and ran not daring to turn back and see if the bears were following her. She ran miles together until she found her mother standing out in front of her house and looking for her.
She gasped for breath as she held her mother and then stammered continuously, “I would never ever interfere again with anyone else’s properties.”
Not quite understanding what went wrong her mother took her inside. But that was the end of it and Goldilocks never got mischievous again.
